On a similar topic, I was amazed to find out that Calvin’s (of “Calvin and Hobbes”) much cooler name for The Big Bang (“The Horrendous Space Kablooie”) actually briefly became a popular alternate name for the theory within the scientific community (according to Wikipedia).
