“Notharctus” is actually the genus name of an early primate – I was wondering what to call the professor, then I saw this name in a book of prehistoric mammals I was looking at while doing research for Roger’s devolution, and I thought, “Why not?” The force field ruined what would otherwise be a not-so-shabby sight gag – a bottle of liquid going "splat" against a solid wall doesn't have the same resonance as the same bottle going "fzzt" against a force field.
